I really like the picture of the walk sign and Portland Downtown at night! Nice job Jon! :D Oh oh take my pictures too please! Me and Victoria can be your models! Well, I'm not very photogenic but ehhh who cares. hah
Excellent work Jon. I remember that one kid who was asking me for all sorts of tips last year... and look at your progress now. You make a guy proud dude! I really like the last picture. Fantastic night shot indeed.
Also, if I may a bit of constructive criticism... That one picture with the kid posing on the post... I feel as though the subject is too "centered." When something is in the middle like that, I subconsciously expect symmetry. In any case, I would suggest putting the subject more to the side or something like that, for dramatic effect. Remember the rule of thirds? Yeah...
Yujung: Thanks!! The walk sign was photoshopped a bit, switched it to B&W + add contrast. I like the effect it gives! And YEAH! I'd love to take your portraits!! I'll let you know when I'm free..going to cali this weekend, and gotta do senior portraits for Tai (Minh's bro) the weekend after. So maybe end of November if the weather is on our side =)
Paul: It's cuz of your wonderful tips that I improved ;) It's all the practice I've had...been trying to shoot regularly.
As for the CC, thanks. I was rushed to take that pic, so I thought about it for about 10 secs. and snapped. Otherwise I would've recomposed. Shows how putting some thought before taking a picture can really improve it!! (Maybe I should do more photo tips on my blog..)
Jon: To talk about some photo tips would be a great idea. Many people can take good shots, but they don't understand what it takes to take a GREAT shot.
Tips from such an avid photographer yourself may help. ;D
